Paris

The way we are is just a movie sequence
I took you so fast.

- ‘Paris’ by Chicosci

There’s this French guy, Vincent Moon, who goes around Paris shooting bands doing live sets at the most urban settings. The Shins at the town plaza, The National around a cozy diner, St. Vincent inside a boudoir. But my favorite would have to be Arcade Fire playing Neon Bible inside a freight elevator.

I literally burned a couple of hours away last Sunday viewing these cinematic masterpieces. I guess there’s a voyeuristic component that makes it all wonderful, being presented with the ability to eavesdrop on my favorite bands perform some of their songs. And the videos are crafted with a deep level of intimacy, making viewers more drawn into both subject and song.

Apart from those linked above, you can view more of these great performances at TakeAwayShows.com.

Like slow moving pictures you can pause and play, I feel like decelerating to a standstill, to dissect every nook and cranny there is. But at least, what comforts me is that in due course, I’ll come to terms with what has been transpiring and finally grasp the complexity that is now.
