so he/she can join me to watch endo at the movie house tomorrow.

tara. lets go lets go lets go.

So goes my invitation to watch Endo which I sent last Friday. No, I wasn’t drunk at the time, but in reality, it was my shot at mockery… of the tons of smashed people whom I saw slowly trickling in past midnight at this coffee house in Katipunan during hearts day. Must be the season.

Anyway, I really like Endo. I like their attempt at displaying often unseen truths; of the realities that to me, exist only on paper. The composition was not half-hearted, and the conversation between characters neither feeble nor meek. It was a well-guided tour from start to finish, and armed with a killer soundtrack, everything just seemed to blend perfectly well.

So I’ve noticed that I’ve developed a particular penchant for watching films in the vernacular as of late. Apart from the fact that speaking in my native dialect brings a certain easiness to my comprehension of the movie, the narratives appear to hit closer to home.

I’ve also come to realize that apart from the story and the acting, the technicals in film making, such as cinematography, lighting, editing, etc, need to be appreciated as well. And in looking at these details, it is without a doubt that this is where the Filipino shines.
