Last night, I sold out and finally bought that iPod touch that I’ve been eyeing for the past several months. I still have that perfectly good iPod that I’ve been carrying for the past year and a half, but when push came to shove, gadget lust won over rationale.
That said, I’m selling my old [...]

Just purchased my very first vinyl record today, Carole King’s Tapestry. A really great album, if I may say so myself. I think I’ll be spared from any embarrassment some 10, 20 years from now when people ask me what my first vinyl was (as opposed to my first CD, which shall forever remain a [...]

Yo!
May 4, 2008

It’s no secret, but like most kids my generation, I did start out liking rap. My first CD purchase was a forgettable one, a sort of dance remix compilation done by this DJ duo quite popular in the early 90s. That’s why I envy people who’s first CD purchase was say, something like GNR’s Appetite [...]

taken out
April 26, 2008

It was a case of going out in style.
Being on the short stack last night, I thought I caught a lucky break when the turn revealed a full house for me. Sixes on queens. So I tried to play as wisely as I could, check raising and all the babble that comes with trapping an [...]

April 20, 2008

After promising myself not to buy CD’s for the rest of the year after the great Singapore binge-shopping debacle, I still went out and bought a handful of CD’s last Thursday. One of them being Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye. It was a cool and suave record, something I can see myself [...]

April 16, 2008

I seriously, seriously thought that I was one year younger than what I actually am. It wasn’t until I viewed my profile in this social network earlier today that I realized otherwise. And to think I’ve been counting wrong for the past six months.

Death Cab for Cutie’s Narrow Stairs. Out on 5/13. Can’t wait.

even better than the real thing
April 13, 2008

Actually, probably not. But I reckon, it does come close.
Got to watch U2 3D last Thursday, and in a word, it was mind-blowing. The opening shot of the stage in Buenos Aires with the band yet to even take the stage already conveys enough enchantment, and that was all it took to tell me that [...]

valorous
April 7, 2008

Thank God for the brave. It it weren’t for them, we probably wouldn’t have this unwarranted ‘day of valor’ holiday right smack in the middle of summer. Ergo, a two day weekend for me (I’ve got work on Saturdays).
So it goes without saying that I’m not really complaining, with this holiday seemingly baseless and all.
It’s [...]

she’s lump, she’s in my head
April 2, 2008

While on the way home from work earlier this afternoon, I heard Wonderful by Adam Ant on the radio.
To me, this song will forever be lumped together with Jeff Buckley’s Last Goodbye and Hum’s Stars. It’s almost automatic. Not only did they all come out during the same year (’95 alternative rocks!), but they [...]

suspenseful
March 24, 2008

Just finished watching The Orphanage, which is marketed as ‘from Guillermo del Toro, the guy that brought you Pan’s Labyrinth‘.
I didn’t think it’d be at par with Asian cinematic horror masterpieces, but it was. It has it’s fair share of jump at you suspense sequences, which after the initial shock value, leads to my [...]
